Early March 2021, the process of going for NYSC commenced and everything was fast. The first step was to register online, do finger-print and make payment alongside choose 4 states for deployment.

After all, await the deployed state. This is when things became la-hot. So when mine came out, can you guess where I was deployed to….. hmmm, Sokoto (lol). The whole drama started, my sister and brother called and they said I was not going, I was like “okay”. Everyone was against me going to the north. We all know the insecurity issues they have in the northern part of Nigeria.

My dad asked me “what do you want to do”, and I told him I will go. God bless him for me, for his support always. By God’s grace, I went, and getting there was from mercy to mercy. I met different people. Sokoto was fun.

The three weeks were interesting, different activities like parading, miss Nysc, drama, I even got myself a drama husband(lols). I missed my Commandant TD John,(“ korfer, you are sending a representative to me ba”). My platoon mates are such lovely people. My roommates have one big love for them.

After camp, I stayed at Sokoto for a day where I was opportune to visit their general market to get one or two.

It actually pierced my heart seeing kids going to school with torn uniforms, some putting on slippers to school and most of them look unkempt.

The next day I moved down to Abuja where I stayed for two days before going to Lagos where I currently serve by God’s grace. All this journey has been God and him alone.

The whole story is that in all, take the risk because it is a criterion for changing position in life.

Thanks for reading and please do check out my next write-up.
