I’m here to gist you about my findings again, so today we’ll learn about the four hormones that contribute to happiness in general. Let’s start things off.

The event that started this conversation was when I went to my company’s work jam over the weekend. We were talking about a variety of topics when one of my coworkers asked, “Do I know the hormones that produce happiness in human beings?” Did I get it? No, and that is why we are here to discover what they are, what they do, and how to improve them together.

At a specific time and season, hormones influence how a person acts or reacts.

The four Hormones are:

  • Serotonin. · Dopamine · Endorphins · Oxytocin

SEROTONIN

This hormone and neurotransmitter support digestion, sleep, appetite, learning, and memory, among other bodily functions. According to the study, we need sleep between 7–8 hours each day in order for the brain to rebuild and essentially restart. We may compare our brain to a computer, where even the formidable MacBook will begin acting strangely if the system is not shut down for a few weeks or months. I still remember the MacBook that my formal employer gave me. The system started to hang this was after I did not restart the system for a month. I had to force shut down it before it could resume functioning normally. This also applies to the human brain, which requires rest and nutrition. The use of coffee or energy beverages is not a good idea. All of them, of course, have their drawbacks.

According to the Sleep Foundation, the table below shows the age group and the time range for sleep.

DOPAMINE

The neurotransmitter dopamine, popularly known as the “feel-good” hormone, is important for the brain’s reward system. It is linked to pleasurable sensations as well as learning, memory, and other things. Emotion is everything, and we must learn to hide them when required. The trick is to carry out essential tasks like eating, sleeping, and many others in a way that will cause the hormone responsible for the emotion to be generated.

OXYTOCIN

The “love hormone,” also known as oxytocin, is essential for pregnancy, nursing, and happy parent-child connections. Additionally, it may foster relationships, empathy, and mutual trust. Increased levels are frequently the outcome of physical attachment. Since everything in life has a purpose, always be loving. I shall thus begin by expressing my love for all of my readers. I think about you guys all the time.

ENDORPHINS

These hormones are produced by our body as a natural painkiller in response to stress or discomfort. In addition to positive experiences, it can also increase as a result of rewarding actions like eating, exercising, and other things. These hormones are required to keep the “hormonal cycle” in balance. Let me give you an example of how this hormone works. I go to the gym, and sometimes I don’t feel like doing anything, but after working out for a bit, everything starts to come back, including my energy, strength, and happiness. I could become the Minister of Happiness if I continue to produce too many of these hormones 🤣.

Some of the things to do to enhance the 4 hormones are:

  • Take a break when you are tired of working: We often try to outsmart our brain and the hormones that will later take a toll on us. So make sure to take a proper rest or vacation when there is a need.
  • Take a walk: Medically, a 30-minute stroll is crucial for the body’s development and regeneration, as well as the brain.
  • Read educative books: Information gathering is the best thing in life, learning, teaching, and even giving public speaking help the hormones to be active and multiply as the case may be. During the lockdown, I did read books but the majority were contemporary stories. I really don’t know, I feel like biting myself up now. But you know what we move. Now I have started reading what will help me develop morally, Intellectually, spiritually, and physically and I can see the difference. It is so glaring.
  • See comedies, laugh out loud: Watch skits or funny movies, and laugh even when it is not funny. I normally do something if I feel like crying, I will see movies that for normal people it is funny, but in my case, I cry my eyes out and laugh when they are crying. I am odd, right? It is called Reversed Engineering 🤗.
  • Gist, hang out with friends: For some of us who do not keep friends, you can take writing or jotting as a friend. Write down your current emotions, and everything going through your mind.
  • Eat fruits: When we talk about fruits we are talking about vitamins. Like me now I see happiness when I see an apple 😁.
  • Exercise: Setting out 10 to 15 mins daily to exercise is a great start and I can’t tell you less of its importance.
  • Listen to Music: music is life, when I don’t feel like doing anything music keeps me moving.
  • Dance: I am the best dancer in the world, don’t worry I don’t do dancing just like you(I can’t dance). So you can dance till your body says, ha you, stop.
  • Meditation: You know it is recent I know the importance of meditation, taking some minutes or hours to yourself, to think, rethink, structure, and restructure a lot of things.

With all this up and down talk I would like to encourage us to take care of ourselves, your happiness is my happiness. Do what will always make you happy. You are always the first driver in your car, so drive well.

I will forever keep you in my heart ❤️, stay tuned for my next write-ups. Thanks for your support.
